Who is this training for?
Engaging and building service users’ motivation for change is one of the key challenges workers face and this course is suitable for those who wish to improve their practice and gain accreditation in this evidence based approach. This is advanced level training suitable for those who are already competent in using a range of verbal and non-verbal counselling skills and in developing warm and empathic relationships with their service users.
Prior learning requirements
Learners must have level two literacy and level two counselling skills or the equivalent.
Learners will be required to complete a portfolio of written homework assignments (approx 10 hours of work) and complete an observed motivational interviewing practice assessment during the course time.
