We are pleased to announce our latest open courses for Autumn/Winter 2021 programme are now available to book online.
Our open courses provide an opportunity for individuals or small groups to access training from our ‘New Approaches for Responding to Complex Needs’ range of courses. Each course will be delivered online, over two half days, by our expert trainers and are suitable for professionals, volunteers and those seeking to deepen their understanding of the subject.
Compassionate Solution Focused Practice
20/09/21 and 27/09/21
This is a skills-based course inviting you to practise using a range of solution focused techniques to engage quickly and effectively with service users and to evaluate the solution focused approach for working in your own context.
Trauma Informed Practice
20/10/21 and 27/10/21
This knowledge-based course explores new developments in explaining how, to a greater or lesser extent, we cope and make sense of the struggles we face. The course draws on current research to understand the diversity of human suffering and its meanings.
How to Put Motivational Interviewing into Practice
09/11/21 and 16/11/21
The course gives you a chance to explore and practise using Motivational Interviewing (MI) compassionately when there is discord, when there is fear, when there is reluctance or loss of hope. MI’s strongest evidence base points to its usefulness in helping people change when they do not feel ready or are in two minds about change. On this course you will practise engaging, focussing and evoking change with people who at various stages of readiness to change.
