Groupwork is a fabulous way to build the kind of social connection that is central to new approaches for responding to complex needs. The evidence is that people with better social connections have better physical and mental health.
As social creatures, we are striving for connection and we may adapt how we present ourselves in order to ‘fit in’. Sometimes the ways we are with others can facilitate growth, sometimes they can stagnate growth. Paradoxically, striving to ‘fit in’ can contribute to a sense of not belonging, not feeling connected.
This programme is about how facilitators can contribute to building a context of belonging. It covers the essentials of facilitating groups compassionately, to invite authenticity and vulnerability, to honour our struggles and to live courageously.
